"Service Retirement Benefit", reducing the age at which a
member of the Employees' Retirement System may be -re-
tired.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sub-section (1) of Section 7 of Article 73B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Pen-
sions", sub-title "Service Retirement Benefit", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
7: (1) (a) Any member in service may retire upon written
application to the Board of Trustees setting forth at what
time, not less than thirty days nor more than ninety days sub-
sequent to the execution and filing thereof, he desires to be
retired, provided that such member at the time so specified
for his retirement shall have attained the age of sixty and
notwithstanding that during such period of notification he may
have separated from service.
(b) Any member in service who is not an elected or ap-
pointed official of the State and. who has attained the age of
seventy shall be retired forthwith or on the first day of the
next calendar month.
SEC. 2. And lie it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect six months after the termination of the present war.

(Senate Bill 25)
AN ACT to add four new sections to Article 42 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Habeas
Corpus", sub-title "Jurisdiction and Procedure", said new
sections to be known as Sections 3A, 3B, 3C and 3D, to
follow immediately after Section 3 of the said Article, pro-
viding for a wider discretion in the Judge, or Court, in
granting or denying of writs of habeas corpus, in certain
cases and providing for an appeal on the part of either the
applicant or the State, from a final order of the Court.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That four new sections be and they are hereby added
to Article 42 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Sup-
