pay for boarding and keeping each prisoner committed to his
custody such sum as the said County Commissioners shall
deem proper, not to exceed fifty cents (50c) per day. It shall
be the duty of the sheriff to keep a book or books at the county
jail in which he shall keep a correct and full statement or
schedule of all prisoners committed to his custody, showing by
what authority, the offense charged, the time the prisoner is
received and the time of discharge, which statement or
schedule, together with all books, papers and commitments
kept by him pertaining to prisoners in the jail shall at all times
be open to the inspection of the County Commissioners, State's
Attorney, the Judges of the Circuit Court and the Grand Jury,
and should the sheriff neglect or refuse to keep said, book and
schedules or to comply with any of the duties which he is
hereby required to perform, he shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and subject to indictment, and upon conviction thereof
he shall be fined a sum not exceeding One Hundred Dollars
($100. 00).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts
of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon by yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Sub-section
(Talbot County) of Section 100 of Article 52 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland 8(1943 Supplement), title "Justices
of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System", increas-
ing the salary of the Trial Magistrate of Talbot County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (Talbot County) of Section 100 of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supple-
ment), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magis-
