payable in equal monthly payments and the County Commis-
sioners shall make provision for and pay said salary as herein
provided, and said Counsel to the Treasurer shall receive no
other fees, commissions, or compensation of any kind in ad-
dition to the said salary of Thirty-five Hundred Dollars
($3, 500. 00) per annum. The said counsel so appointed by the
County Treasurer shall hold office at the pleasure of the
Treasurer.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon by. yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 201)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 742
of Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Baltimore County", sub-title "Sheriff",
as the same was repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 331 of
the Acts of 1941, to increase the expense allowance to the
Sheriff of Baltimore County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 742 of Article 3 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Baltimore
County", sub-title "Sheriff", as the same was repealed and
re-enacted by Chapter 331 of the Acts of 1941, be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
742. The Sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an
annual salary of Three Thousand Dollars ($3, 000. 00) to be
paid to him in monthly installments of Two Hundred and
Fifty Dollars ($250. 00) by the County Commissioners" of
Baltimore County, and he shall be allowed the sum of
Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15, 000. 00) annually to be paid
to him by the said County Commissioners in monthly in-
stallments, for the expenses of his office,. including clerk
and the necessary deputies to assist in the discharge of
