accidental injury, arising out of and in the course of his em-
ployment after the effective date of this Act, shall not bar
any such employee from the benefits and payments provided
by this Act, and any such employee shall be entitled to re-
ceive the payments herein provided, if otherwise he comes with-
in the provisions hereof, notwithstanding the execution or
existence of any such waiver by any such employee.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, Thai all laws or parts of
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and the
same are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to add a new paragraph to Sub-section 26 of Section
6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and the
Charter of Baltimore City (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore
City", sub-title "General Powers", sub-heading "Streets,
Bridges and Highways", to be numbered (C1) and to follow
immediately after Paragraph (C) of said sub-heading, au-
thorizing the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to do
certain work in, adjacent to, in connection with, or in the
vicinity of, public or private alleys; determine, assess and
collect costs thereof; classify said work, the owners of abut-
ting or benefited properties and the assessments against
them, and to exempt any class or classes of properties or
property owners from such assessments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new paragraph be and it is hereby added to Sub-
section 26 of Section 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland and the Charter of Baltimore City (1938 Edi-
tion), title 'Baltimore City", sub-title "General Powers", sub-
heading "Streets, Bridges and Highways", to be numbered
(C1), to follow immediately after Paragraph (O) of said sub-
heading and to read as follows:
