486, The Comptroller of the State of Maryland is hereby di-
rected to draw a warrant upon the State Treasurer for the
payment of the sum of Four Thousand and Twenty-five Dollars
($4, 025. ) per annum, payable in equal monthly or semi-
monthly installments for the compensation of the trust clerk to
be appointed by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, for the
supervision of the trust estates in the Circuit Court and Cir-
cuit Court No. 2 of Baltimore City; payment of said salary
to be made out of any money paid by the clerks of the several
courts of Baltimore City into the State Treasury, and on the
certificate of some one of the judges of the Supreme Bench
of Baltimore City that such trust clerk has performed his
duties for the time so certified by said Judge; the clerk of the
Circuit Court of Baltimore and of the Circuit Court No. 2 of
Baltimore City are hereby authorized and directed to appoint
a chief clerk for each of their respective courts, said appoint-
ment to be subject to confirmation by the Supreme Bench of
Baltimore City; and when said appointments have been so
made and confirmed the Comptroller of the State of Mary-
land is hereby directed to draw two warrants upon the State
Treasurer, each for the payment of the sum of thirty-five hun-
dred dollars per annum in each and every year in monthly in-
stallments of two hundred ninety-one dollars and sixty-six
cents at the end of each and every month for the compensa-
tion of each of the two clerks so appointed and confirmed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 635.

(House Bill 56)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 549
of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Receiv-
ing Stolen Goods, Money or Securities", extending jurisdic-
tion to justices of the peace in Baltimore City to try cases
of receiving stolen goods, money or securities under value
of twenty-five dollars, and to provide a saving clause for
violations occurring prior to effective date of this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted Ity the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 549 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
