prior to the time fixed by the Governor for the execution of
such offender, at which time such offender shall be transferred,
by authority of the Department of Correction, to the death
house in the Maryland Penitentiary for such execution, to be
performed under the direct supervision of the Warden of the
Maryland Penitentiary in accordance with the provisions of
Article 27, Sections 483 to 492, both inclusive, and in the
presence of female officers assigned for this purpose.

SEC. 2. And b e it further enacted, That if any part, section,
paragraph, clause, sentence or provision of this Act, or any
application thereof is held invalid for any reason, the remain-
der of this Act and other applications thereof shall not be af-
fected thereby, and to this end the provisions of this Act are
declared to be severable.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and the
same are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County, " sub-title "County Commission-
ers, " said new section to be known as Section 148A and
to follow immediately after Section 148 of said Article,
relating to acquiring and disposing of real estate and
ratifying all conveyances heretofore made by or to the
said County Commissioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 22
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Washington County, " sub-title "County Com-
missioners, " said new section to be known as Section 148A,
to follow immediately after Section 148 of said Article, and
to read as follows:
