quent offense. It shall be the duty of the Commissioner to
institute proceedings through the State's Attorney of Balti-
more City and the State's Attorneys of the respective counties
for the prosecution of any employment agent violating any of
the provisions of Sections 268 to 2", inclusive, or of any
regulations made and published by him pursuant to the pro-
visions of Section 271.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Commissioner
of State Employment and Registration shall immediately, upon
the taking effect of this Act, transfer to the Commissioner of
Labor and Statistics all of the records in his office relating to
the licensing of employment agencies.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 517.
(Senate Bill 64)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 16 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Chancery", sub-title
"Inebriates", said new section to be known as Section 61A,
and to follow immediately after Section 61 of said Article,
relating to the commitment of persons charged with the
commission of criminal offenses, who are suspected of suffer-
ing from acute or chronic alcoholism.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 16
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Chancery", sub-title "Inebriates", said new section to be
known as Section 61A, to follow immediately after Section 61
of said Article, and to read as follows:

61A. When any person charged with the commission of a
criminal offense is shown to the satisfaction of the judge
before whom he is brought to be suffering from acute or chronic
alcoholism, the said judge may commit him to one of the
State hospitals for treatment and observation, under such
terms and conditions as he may determine; provided, that no
such commitment shall be made except by one of the judges
