194. The said Council may elect a clerk to said Council
and fix the amount of his compensation and the length of
his term, and they may also fix the compensation of
the Mayor of the said town. Each member of the Council
shall receive One Dollar ($1. 00) for each session of the
Council attended by him; provided, however, that no Coun-
cilman shall receive more than Fifteen Dollars ($15. 00) in
any one year.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted,, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 450.
(Senate Bill 534)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 85, 86, 87 and 88 of Article 12
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Garrett County, " sub-title "County Com-
missioners, " Section 87 having been amended by Chap-
ter 239 of the Acts of Assembly of 1943, and to enact
a new Section 85, relating to the appointment of a clerk
to the County Commissioners, and prescribing his duties
and compensation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 85, 86, 87 and 88 of Article 12 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Garrett County, " sub-title "County Commissioners, " Sec-
tion 87 having been amended by Chapter 239 of the Acts
of Assembly of 1943, be and they are hereby repealed and
that a new Section 85 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu
thereof to read as follows:

85. The County Commissioners shall appoint a Clerk
who shall hold his office for two years from the date of
his appointment and until the qualification of his successor.
He shall be subject to removal from said office for ineffi-
ciency or for any willful neglect of duty or misbehavior in
office, at any time, by said County Commissioners who
shall have power to appoint some competent person for
the unexpired term of said Clerk so removed, and said
County Commissioners shall be the sole judge as to the
inefficiency or willful neglect of duty or misbehavior of
'said Clerk. Said Clerk, before entering upon the duties
