358 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 384

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "State Roads", sub-title "Duties and Powers", said new
section to be known as Section 49A, to follow immediately
after Section 49 of said Article, and to read as follows:

49A. For the purpose of reducing the cost of road main-
tenance, the State Roads Commission and the County Commis-
sioners of the several Counties are hereby authorized to pro-
vide, by mutual agreement, at any time to change the status
of any road within the said County from a county road to a
state road or from a state road to a county road; provided,
however, that the provisions of this Act shall not apply to
Caroline, Somerset, Cecil, Queen Anne's, Talbot, and Worces-
ter Counties.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 384.

(Senate Bill 85)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 35
of Article 72 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edi-
tion), title "Oysters", sub-title "Painted Numbers for
Dredging Vessels", to provide that the Commission of Tide-
water Fisheries shall have numbers painted for dredging
vessels instead of the Comptroller.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 35 of Article 72 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Oysters", sub-title "Painted
Numbers for Dredging Vessels", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

35. The Commission of Tidewater Fisheries shall have
painted in black figures on white. canvas one number
corresponding to the license to catch oysters with scoop,
scrape, dredge or other similar instruments; each figure shall
be twenty-two inches in length and of proportionate width,
and the figures at least six inches apart; and it shall give
to each person taking out such license one number thereof,
