CHAPTER 327.
(Senate Bill 244)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, "para-
graph e, Section 144A, and Section 144B, Article 43 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Health, " sub-
title "Practitioners of Medicine, " as amended by Chapter
600 of the Laws of Maryland, 1943.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That paragraph e, Section 144A, and Section 144B, Article
43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Health, "
sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine, " as amended by
Chapter 600 of the Laws of Maryland, 1943, be and the
same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
144A. (c) Each physician or surgeon may exhibit on
the door or wall of the building wherein he practices not
more than two signs on which may be placed the name and
title or degree of such person, and his specialty, the letters
of which shall not exceed three inches square. In addition
he may exhibit such sign on the door of his office in addi-
tion to those on the door or wall of such building.
144B. Any person practicing medicine or surgery who
shall solicit or advertise by mail, card, newspaper, pamph-
let, radio or otherwise to the general public, except as set
out in Section 144A, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof shall be fined not less than $50. 00
nor more than $300. 00 for each offense. Provided, however,
that notices by mail to bona fide patients of times for
periodic examinations shall not be construed as soliciting
or advertising.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.
