CHAPTER 292.

(House Bill 478)

AN ACT to repeal Section 73 of Article 14 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "How-
ard County", sub-title "County Commissioners".

WHEREAS, the provisions of said section relating to the
appointment of assessors have been superseded by the General
Law and are therefore no longer applicable.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 73 of Article 14 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Howard
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", be and it is here-
by repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

Approved March 16, 1945.

CHAPTER 293.
(House Bill 25)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 11
of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "State Police", providing that employees
may be promoted to ranks, grades or positions of a technical
character without having held the rank, grade or position
inferior to the rank, grade or position to which they are to
be appointed and relating to promotions to ranks above that
of Sergeant.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 11 of Article 88B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "State Police", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

11. The Superintendent shall, within the limits of any ap-
propriation made for such purpose, promote employees to the
rank, grade and position of the Department, as he may deem
necessary for the efficient administration of the Department.
