2004 CERTIFICATES.

To the Cleric of the Court of Appeals:

I, WILLIAM J. MCWILLIAMS, SECRETARY OF STATE, OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in
Chapter 441 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
of 1922, DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at the General Election held
in this State on Tuesday, November 7, 1944, an Act known as
Chapter 628 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1943, was
submitted to the voters of St. Mary's County for their adoption
or rejection, under the provisions of Article 16 of the Consti-
tution of the !State, said Act being:

"An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
203, 205 and 206 of Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1980 Edition), title 'St.
Mary's County7, sub-title 'Sheriff', relating to the com-
pensation and expenses of the Sheriff of St. Mary's
County. "

AND I DO CERTIFY, That at said election 1, 000 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of Chapter 628 of the Acts of 1943,
and 1, 121 votes were cast against the adoption of said Act,
in St. Mary's County, and a majority being cast against the
adoption thereof, the same has failed of ratification.
