in regard to the plans, construction and erection of public
school buildings.

SEC. 8. And be it -further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 1076.
(House Bill 869)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 96 1/2 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, as said Article was enacted by the Acts
of 1945, said new section to be known as Section 46A, and to
follow immediately after Section 46 of said Article, relating
to the furnishing of certain certificates relative to veterans.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
96 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, as said Article was
enacted by the Acts of 1945, said new section to be known as
Section 46A, to follow immediately after Section 46 of said
Article, and to read as follows:

46A. Whenever any Federal, State, County or municipal
officer, department or agency, or any corporation, requires a
certificate showing the birth, marriage or death of a veteran as
defined in this Article, or the marriage and/or similar appli-
cable certificates for his wife, widow or children, such certifi-
cate or certificates shall be furnished without requiring or col-
lecting any fee which may be required for such certificate by
any law, ordinance, rule or regulation, it being the intention
of this section that all certificates required to be furnished by
any veteran, or in connection with any claim by or on behalf of
any dependent or dependents or beneficiary or beneficiaries of
such veteran, shall be furnished without the payment of any fee
whatsoever.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon by yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
