96D. (117A, 135A, 177A, 60A. ) In addition to the salary
and expenses of the stenographer duly appointed under the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland the court stenogra-
pher of the Second Judicial Circuit of the State of Maryland
shall be paid the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500. 00) per
annum for travelling expenses as such stenographer; and the
County Commissioners of Caroline County, of Cecil County,
of Kent County, of Queen Anne's County, and of Talbot
County shall each pay the sum of One Hundred Dollars
($100. 00) thereof per annum.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
Effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
131 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 11.
The County Superintendent of Schools", increasing the
salary of County Superintendents and eliminating certain
obsolete provisions.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 131 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title
"Chapter 11. The County Superintendent of Schools", be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
131. The county board of education of each county shall
appoint during the month of May a superintendent of schools
for a term of four years, from the first day of August next
succeeding his appointment, and he shall hold office until his
successor qualifies. No person shall be eligible for appoint-
ment to the office of county superintendent of schools who
does not hold from the State Superintendent of Schools a cer-
tificate in administration and supervision as provided for in
Section 88 of this Article, nor shall the appointment of any
person by the county board of education to the position of
county superintendent of schools be valid without the written
approval of the State Superintendent of Schools. Provided
