gomery County there shall also be appointed by the Board of
Education for Montgomery County at its first meeting after
June 1, 1943, a supervisor of school property who shall dis-
charge the duties of his office under the general supervision of
the superintendent of education for said county, said super-
visor of school property, when appointed, shall serve for a term
of four years at an annual salary of three thousand six hun-
dred dollars ($3, 600) payable monthly by the board of edu-
cation for Montgomery County, together with an additional
sum of six hundred dollars ($600) per annum, for expenses
incurred in carrying out his official duties. The said super-
visor of school property shall appoint two assistants to aid
him in carrying out his duties, one of which assistants shall
receive an annual salary of two thousand and four hundred
dollars ($2, 400) and an additional sum of six hundred dollars
($600) per annum, for expenses incurred in carrying out his
official duties, and the other of which assistants shall receive
an annual salary of Three Thousand Dollars ($3, 000) and
an additional sum of six hundred dollars ($600) per annum,
for expenses incurred in carrying out his official duties.
Neither the supervisor of school property nor his assistants
shall have any pecuniary interest in any contract entered into
by the county commissioners, the board of education, or on
behalf of Montgomery County. It shall be the duty of the said
supervisor of school property, in addition to whatever duties
are assigned him by the board of education of Montgomery
County, to supervise the construction, maintenance and opera-
tion of all school buildings, and he shall supervise the trans-
portation of pupils at public expense, and he shall select, ap-
point and exercise supervision over and remove the drivers or
operators of all school buses or vehicles used for the trans-
portation of pupils in the public schools of Montgomery Coun-
ty, and he shall have jurisdiction of the sanitary conditions of
all the buildings and grounds and shall frequently make inspec-
tion of all school property and shall take such necessary action
to maintain and keep the most sanitary and efficient conditions
possible about any and all of the said school property. It
shall be the further duty of said supervisor of school property
to frequently inspect and cause to be made an inspection in
the school rooms and other buildings to insure proper heating,
ventilating and lighting conditions, and to strive at all times
to maintain better accommodations for the comfort, conveni-
ence and health of the teachers and children. The said super-
visor shall frequently inspect the privies, wash bowls, fixtures
and plumbing on the said school properties, and cause the same
to be operated and maintained in a sanitary manner, and he
shall from time to time cause an inspection to be made of the
water supply of each and every school and have a sample of
