SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 98 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
98. The County Commissioners of Caroline County shall
each receive, in lieu of the per diem and mileage, an annual
salary of seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750. 00) payable
quarterly, and all necessary traveling expenses when traveling
on county business outside of the county.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
take effect June 1st, 1945,

CHAPTER 1022.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 180
of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Sup-
plement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "State Tax
Commission", providing for the salaries of the assessors in
Anne Arundel County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 180 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement, title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-
title "State Tax Commission", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
180. Each County Supervisor of Assessments shall, in addi-
tion to his other duties, act as chief assessor in his particular
county, with such additional duties as the State Tax Commis-
sion shall determine and designate. On or before January
first, 1944, each of the several Boards of County Commissioners
in this State shall appoint from among the residents of the
respective counties such number of assessors as may be found
necessary to execute a continuing method of assessment which
number shall be fixed by the County Commissioners, after con-
sultation with the State Tax Commission, but if the County
Commissioners shall find that in any County the work can be
performed by the Supervisor alone, then no assessors shall be
appointed; provided, however, that in Harford County the
two assessors in office on June 1, 1943 shall constitute the first
assessors holding positions under the provisions of this Act,
without the necessity of examination or appointment. The
