HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 1743

The Comptroller shall immediately upon the sale of and
payment for said bonds or Certificates of Indebtedness, first
return to and credit the Treasury for a sum equivalent to the
amount expended, as provided for by Section 5 of this Act;
the remainder of the proceeds of the said loan shall be credited
on the books of the State Treasury Department to the credit
of the Board of Public Works and shall be used, expended and
applied for the purchase of an existing building in Baltimore
City and the equipping thereof, or for the acquisition of a site
in Baltimore City and for the erection thereon of a State Office
Building and the equipping thereof. The Board of Public
Works is hereby authorized to acquire said site by purchase
or condemnation under Article 33A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners of the several counties of the State and the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore are hereby respectively directed
to levy the State taxes for the year 1947 at one-eighth (1/8)
of a cent on each One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) of assess-
able property; for the year 1948 at one-fourth (1/4) of a cent
on each One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) of assessable prop-
erty; for the year 1949 at three-eighths (3/8) of a cent on each
One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) of assessable property; and
for the years 1950 to 1962, inclusive, at two-thirds (2/3) of
a cent on each One Hundred Dollars ($100/00) of assessable
property, to be collected according to law, to meet the interest
on the amount of said Certificates outstanding, and also to
meet and redeem so much of the principal in each of said
years as may be represented by Certificates redeemable in each
year, respectively, as herein specified in Section 2 of this Act.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 997.
(House Bill 18)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Alcoholic
Beverages", sub-title "Regulations and Restrictions'', said
new section to be known as Section 42C, and to follow imme-
diately after Section 42B of said Article, regulating the sale
of alcoholic beverages on days of election.
