of Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($4, 500. 00)
per annum. The Judge may direct that any case
shall be heard in the first instance by such master
in the manner provided for hearing of cases by the
court. Upon the conclusion of such hearing, the Master
shall transmit to the Judge all papers relating to the case,
together with his findings and recommendations in writ-
ing, notice of which shall be given to the parent, guardian
or custodian of the child, and, in the Master's discretion,
to any other person concerned in the case, and a hearing
by the Judge with respect to the Master's findings and
recommendations shall be allowed provided any such per-
son requests the same within such time and in such manner
as the rules established for the court may provide. In the
event that no such hearing is requested, the findings and
recommendations of the Master, if and when confirmed by
an order of the Judge, shall become the judgment of the
court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 985.
(Senate Bill 591)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 25 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "County Com-
missioners, " sub-title "Public Roads, " said new section
to be known as Section 161A, to follow immediately after
Section 161 of said Article, authorizing the County Com-
missioners of Somerset and Worcester Counties
to contract to take over and maintain private roads and
lanes under certain conditions.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 25
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"County Commissioners, " sub-title "Public Roads, " said
new section to be known as Section 161A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 161 of said Article and to read as
follows:

161A. The County Commissioners of the several counties
may enter into contracts or agreements with the owners
