same shall be published in one or more newspapers of gen-
eral circulation published in said County at least once a week
for two weeks. That the powers of ordinance, created by this
Act are in addition to and not in substitution nor in deroga-
tion of the legislative jurisdiction of the General Assembly of
Maryland and that such supplemental powers of ordinance
as are herein delegated to the County Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County shall not be construed to include power to
repeal or to amend as to their general purpose or intent any
Act of the General Assembly by any such ordinance.

SEC. 2. And fie it further enacted That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 948.
(House Bill 555)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
712A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Montgomery
County (1939 Edition), being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County",
sub-title "Montgomery County Suburban District", as said
section was created by Chapter 826 of the Laws of Mary-
land, Session of 1941, relating to "Emergency No Parking"
zones and traffic "Stop" signs within the Suburban District.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 712A of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Montgomery County (1939 Edition), being Article 16 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery
County", sub-title "Montgomery County Suburban District",
as the same was created by Chapter 826 of the Laws of Mary-
land, Session of 1941, be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

712A. The Board of County Commissioners of Montgomery
County may, by ordinance or resolution, empower the Police
Department of said County at any time to designate any streets
and areas within the Suburban District as "Emergency No
Parking" zones and/or temporarily to prohibit vehicular and
pedestrian traffic on such streets and in such areas, in the event
of emergencies such as fires, riots, accidents or other events
likely to attract large crowds, and may also, by ordinance or
resolution, empower the Police Department of said County,
