acting as clerk shall on or before the Friday next following,
sign and mail to the address as given in the registry of each
person so noted for erasure a notice requiring such person
to appear before the Board upon the Tuesday following and
show cause why his name should not be erased from such reg-
istry. A similar notice shall also be served upon, each such
person before the following Tuesday and if he cannot be
found at the address designated in the registry, said notice
may be left at said address if such address can be found.
17. Each Board of Registry shall meet again for revision
on the Tuesday three weeks preceding a general election, dur-
ing the same hours as stated in Section 13 of this Article. No
new names shall be added to the registry at such meeting ex-
cept where the applicant produces a removal certificate as
hereinafter provided, in which case such applicant shall be
entitled to registration as if he had applied for registration
on a regular registration day. At such meeting the officer
acting as clerk as above provided shall file with the Board
an affidavit stating the names and addresses of all those
persons to whom notice was mailed as provided in Section 16,
and the date of such mailing and also the names and ad-
dresses of those actually served with such notice or served by
leaving the notice at the designated place of residence, stating
how service was made. If any such person shall appear before
the Board, he shall make and sign an affidavit in substance as
follows:
"I do solemnly swear that 1 am a citizen of the United
States and that I have resided in the...... precinct or dis-
trict of...... county in the State of Maryland from the....
day of...... up to the...... day of...... 19...., and that
I have not since acquired a legal residence giving me the right
to vote elsewhere. "
If it is charged that he has been convicted of any infamous
crime and has not been pardoned, he shall further make oath
that he has never been so convicted, or if convicted that he
was pardoned at a time stated. Such affidavit shall be signed
and sworn to before one of such Board of Registry and shall
be preserved and filed in the office of the Supervisors of Elec-
tions. Thereupon the Board of Registry shall further examine
him and any other witness that may appear or be produced
before them under oath and make any further examination
or inquiry that they may deem proper. If after such further
examination and hearing, a, majority of said Board shall decide
that such person is not a qualified voter, his name shall be erased
from the registry by drawing a line in red ink through said name
and through all other entries on the line on which said name is
