1340 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 907

of the Clerk and the Deputy Clerks of the County Commis-
sioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 388 and 389 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (Flack's Edition, 1943), as
enacted by Chapter 298, Section 316 of the Acts of 1937, and
by Chapter 406 of the Acts of 1941, respectively, be, and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

388. The Clerk to the County Commissioners of said county
shall be entitled to an annual salary, of Thirty-five Hundred
Dollars ($3, 500. 00).

389. They may annually appoint a deputy clerk to assist the
Clerk to the County Commissioners, who before entering upon
the duties of his office shall take oath and give bond in the
penalty of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00), and in the same
manner and form as now required by law of the Clerk to said
County Commissioners; and the surety on said bond shall be
some surety company authorized to do business in the State of
Maryland, and the premium on said bond shall be paid by the
County Commissioners of Prince George's County; which
Deputy Clerk in the absence of the clerk shall act in his place
and stead, and be vested with his authority, and the Deputy
Clerk shall receive a salary of not more than One Thousand
Eight Hundred Dollars ($1, 800. 00) per annum; but nothing in
this section shall prevent the appointment of the same indi-
vidual as County Road Clerk at the salary now fixed by law
for said Road Clerk and the total salary so received as the
Deputy Clerk to the County Commissioners and as Clerk to
said Road Board shall not exceed Two Thousand Four Hun-
dred Dollars ($2, 400. 00) per annum, and said County Com-
missioners shall appoint a Deputy Clerk who shall be assigned
to the County Service Building at Hyattsville, Maryland, at a
salary of Two Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($2, 400. 00)
per annum, and shall give bond in the sum of Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10, 000. 00) in the same manner and form as now
required by law of the Clerk to said County Commissioners, a
premium on said bond to be paid by said County Commis-
sioners. The said Deputy Clerk shall in addition to such
duties as may be assigned him by the said County Commis-
sioners may also with consent of the Clerk of the Court and the
Treasurer of Prince George's County act as a Deputy Clerk"
of the Court or Deputy Treasurer under such conditions
as may be required by either of the above officers may perform
such duties, as may be assigned or delegated to him, by either
of said officers and shall give such bond as may be required of
