estate broker, including members of co-partnerships and asso-
ciations and officers of corporations to present reasonable proof
that they are trustworthy and qualified to perform the func-
tions authorized by the license applied for, including evidence
that they have had no less than two years7 practical experience
in selling real estate or that they are duly qualified to practice
law in this State, and including passage of a reasonable
written examination as to their knowledge of the general
functions of a real estate broker and the general procedure
for handling real estate transactions so as to properly protect
the interests of those whom they may represent in such trans-
actions, provided that all persons who hold such a license
under the provisions of this sub-title on the effective date
thereof shall be entitled to a renewal of their license upon
applying therefor and paying the prescribed fee unless their
license shall have been suspended or revoked for cause as pro-
vided in Section 355 of this sub-title; and provided further
that any applicant for such a license who resides in any of
the counties now exempted from the provisions of this sub-title
and who is regularly engaged in business as a real estate
broker on the effective date of this Act shall be granted a
license upon applying therefor and paying the required fee;
provided further that any person who is lawfully engaged in
business as a real estate broker at the time of going into the
Armed Services of the country shall not at any future time
be required to pass the aforesaid examination in order to
obtain a license under this sub-title.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
943B of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition), title "Bal-
timore City", sub-title "Special Fund", relating to the basis
for computing pensions for widows or minor children of
certain deceased members of the Police Department of
Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 943B of Articled of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938
Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Special Funds",
