SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 296 of Article 14 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Howard Coun-
ty", sub-title "State's Attorney", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
296. The State's Attorney for Howard County shall receive
a salary of two thousand dollars for the year 1947 and each
year thereafter, for the performance of the official duties of
the said office, which now are or may hereafter be required by
law, said salary to be in lieu of all traveling, office and steno-
graphic or clerical expenses, and all other compensation for the
same, and to be payable in monthly installments from the first
Monday of January, 1947, by the County Treasurer, upon the
order of the County Commissioners, and his said duties shall
also include his services before the Trial Magistrates of said
County at preliminary hearings or trials, when, in the public
interest, he attends on his own motion, or at the request of any
of the said Magistrates, and shall include all advice regarding
criminal law and procedure that he shall give any Magistrate
of the said County; provided, however, that his actual expenses
incurred in trying criminal cases, removed from said County,
be paid in addition to his salary and that all general or local
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and the
same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
348 (c) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1943 Supplement), title "Licenses", sub-title "Real Estate
Brokers", relating to qualifications for granting of licenses
as real estate brokers.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 348 (c) of Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Licenses", sub-
title "Real Estate Brokers", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
348.
(c) The Commission shall have the power to require all
applicants for a license under this sub-title to act as a real
