39. The Commissioners of Ridgely may whenever they deem
necessary borrow money on the faith and credit of said town
by note or otherwise in any amount they may deem necessary,
provided that said indebtedness thus created shall not exceed
at any time the sum of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40, 000. 00).
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 847.
(House Bill 800)
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Carroll
County to borrow on the credit of Carroll County not ex-
ceeding Two Hundred Fifty Thousand ($250, 000) Dollars
for the construction of County roads, to issue promissory
notes therefor and to levy taxes to pay for same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Carroll County are
hereby authorized to borrow on the credit of Carroll County
at such time or times as they shall determine, such sum or
sums of money not exceeding the sum of Two Hundred Fifty
Thousand ($250, 000) Dollars and to issue promissory notes
therefor, with interest not exceeding three percentum (3%)
and not less than Fifty Thousand ($50, 000) Dollars of said
notes shall mature and be paid each year and no note shall
be issued to mature more than five years after the first note
is issued. The money so borrowed shall be used for county
road construction only and no part thereof shall be used for
the maintenance and repair of roads or for any other pur-
pose than for the construction of county roa4s.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said County
Commissioners are hereby directed to levy sufficient taxes to
pay said notes as they mature, together with interest on all out-
standing notes, until all of said notes shall mature and be paid.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.
