SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws whether
public, local or general, inconsistent herewith be and the same
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect upon the qualification of the Sheriff elected at the gen-
eral election in 1946.

CHAPTER 818.
(House Bill 640)

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of
Frederick City to levy taxes and to pay from the proceeds
a certain sum to the Historical Society of Frederick County,
Inc.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Frederick
City be and they are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to
levy and collect a tax on all the assessable property in Fred-
erick City, in each year, a sum not to exceed One Thousand
Dollars ($1, 000) to be paid to the directors of the Historical
Society of Frederick County, Inc., the same being an historical
and educational society, for the support and maintenance of
such society.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 25 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "County Com-
missioners, " sub-title "General Provisions, " said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 9B and to follow immediately
