they shall require, and in such sum as they shall deem adequate,
not less than five hundred dollars. He shall report annually to
the Burgess and Council, and as often as required by them, the
financial condition of the town, with an account of ail money
received and expended, with the proper vouchers therefor,
which said account shall at all times be open for the inspec-
tion of any voters of the town, and the same may be published
in a county newspaper. The treasurer shall collect all taxes
levied by the Burgess and Council and shall have the same
power to distrain and sell therefor as the collector of county
taxes.
The secretary shall enter in a book to be kept by him for
that purpose, all ordinances passed by the Burgess and Coun-
cil, which ordinances shall be signed by the Burgess and at-
tested to by the secretary, and which book shall be kept open
at all times for public inspection and accessible to the Burgess,
and copies of all ordinances signed and attested as aforesaid
shall be put up in the most public places or printed in a news-
paper published in said town, in order that the same may be
generally known.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not
be construed to affect the compensation of the present Burgess
and Councilmen during the terms for which they have been
elected, but shall apply only to those appointed or elected after
this Act becomes effective.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
take effect June 1st, 1945.

CHAPTER 810.
(House Bill 492)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 204
of Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Frederick County", sub-title "Fred-
erick City", sub-heading "Mayor", and to add a new section
to said Article, title "Frederick County", sub-title "Fred-
erick City", sub-heading "Board of Aldermen", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 209 and to follow immediately
after Section 208 of said Article; increasing the compensa-
tion of the Mayor and permitting a change in the time at
which he may be paid, and providing for the compensation
of the Board of Aldermen.
