CHAPTER 809.
(House Bill 470)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
615 and 619 of Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Frederick County", sub-
title "Myersville", removing the word "male" from the suf-
frage requirements, increasing the compensation of the
Burgess and Councilmen, and permitting the Burgess and
Councilmen to set the compensation of the Secretary and of
the Treasurer of said town.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 615 and Section 619 of Article 11 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Frederick County", sub-title "Myersville", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

615. The citizens of Myersville at the age of twenty-one
years and upwards, who have resided in said town for one
year, shall, on the first Monday of May, A. D. 1922, and every
two years thereafter, on the same day, elect by ballot a Burgess
and three Councilmen, all of whom shall have resided in said
town for twelve months preceding the election, and who are
real estate owners in said town, and who shall have been
nominated for such office by a petition containing the signa-
tures of ten or more voters of said town and filed with the
Burgess at least ten days before said election. The Council-
men together with Burgess shall constitute the Council, and
from and after the election to be held in 1920, the Burgess
shall receive the sum of twenty-five dollars per annum, and the
Councilmen shall each receive the sum of twenty dollars per
annum, as compensation for their respective services, to be
paid annually out of the funds of the said municipal corpora-
tion.

619. The Burgess and Council shall elect from their own
number, a secretary, who shall keep a record of the pro-
ceedings of the Burgess and Councilmen, and shall perform
such other duties as may be assigned to him by the Burgess
and Council, and they shall allow such secretary such com-
pensation as they shall deem proper. They shall also appoint a
treasurer, assign his duties and allow him such compensation as
they shall deem proper. The treasurer shall receive and dis-
burse, 011 the order of the Burgess, all moneys collected under
any of the ordinances of the corporation, and shall give bond to
the Burgess and Council of Myersville, with such security as
