CHAP. 56.
|
persons who shall receive the highest number of
votes for the respective offices, shall be duly elected
and shall qualify as such before a justice of the
peace of the county, that they will discharge the
duties of their respective offices according to the
best of their skill and judgment, without fear or
favor, affection or partiality to any, a copy of which
oath shall be entered on the journal of said corpo-
ration, with the certificate of the justice adminis-
tering the same, and if at any election for burgess,
assistant burgess and commissioners, any two or
more persons shall have an equal number of votes,
by which no choice shall be made, a second election
shall be had, after not less than ten days notice,
and so until a choice shall be made.

Treasurer.
|
SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the said burgess
shall be the treasurer for the said corporation, and
shall bond to said corporate body, with security to
be approved by the commissioners or a majority of
them in such penalty as they shall fix, conditioned
for the faithful performance of his duty as treasurer,
and he shall receive and pay away moneys accord-
ing to the ordinances passed by said commissioners
or a majority of them.

No banking
privileges.
|
5 SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That said corporation
shall not at any time be allowed to issue any note,
certificate or other device to be circulated as cur-
rency.
|
|
|
In force.
|
SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That this act shall
enure for thirty years, unless sooner repealed by
the General Assembly.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer be, and he is here-
by directed to pay on the warrant of the Comptrol-
ler, the sum of eighty-nine dollars and thirty-seven
|
