COMMISSIONERS—

Governor, biennially to appoint an in-

spector for each warehouse, by and

with, advice and consent of the Sen-

ate,

Inspectors not to buy or receive any to-

bacco by way of barter, loan or ex-

change, or procure any tobacco to

be sold or consigned to any mer-

chant, or loading any vessel with

tobacco, except tobacco grown by

such inspector, under a penalty of

$16 per hogshead,

Inspector to receive no gratuity, fee or

reward for anything done by him

in pursuance of his office, except his

salary, under a penalty of $300 and

forfeiture of his office,

Any person offering gratuity, &c., to

inspector, shall forfeit $300,

Salary of each inspector to be $1, 200

per annum,

No person shall carry out of the State,

by land or water, except to some

other State or the District of Colum-

bia, except in hogsheads, which shall

have been inspected, &c., under the

penalty of $500,

Captains of vessels to receive no to-

bacco on board, without manifest

signed by lessee of warehouse, and

no lessee to sign manifest, till to-

bacco inspected and certified to him

by inspector, and captain of vessel

to deposit original manifest with col-

lector of port from which he sails,

and make oath that no other to-

bacco than that manifested has been

received on board, from any part of

Maryland,

May repack tobacco in parcels of any

size, and export the same, &c.,

Captains taking into their vessels par-

cels of tobacco less than a hogshead,

to make oath that they believe said

parcels contain no greater quantity

than may be set forth in manifest,
