CHAP. 379.

half cents; for summoning jury of inquest, for
each juror, twelve and a half cents; for levying
attachment for contempt, fifty cents; for summon-
ing and swearing appraisers on distress for rent,
fifty cents; for poundage fees on any attachment
or execution, seven and a half per cent, on the first
twenty-six dollars and sixty-six cents, and three
per cent on the residue, but if the defendant shall
supersede the judgment on which the attachment
or execution shall have issued within four days
after the same shall have been levied or served, the
constable shall only be entitled to receive one-third
said poundage fees; for killing dog found killing
sheep, to be paid by the owner of the dog, four
dollars; for bringing negro child before the Or-
phans' court, to be paid by the person to whom he
is bound, two dollars; for levying a distress, thir-
teen cents, and the same poundage fees as on exe-
cution; for serving an attachment in the hands of
each garnishee, forty cents.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this bill shall
take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 379.

AN ACT to authorise the citizens of Kirwan's
Neck, in Dorchester county, to erect a gate
across the public road.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the citizens of Kirwan's Neck,
in Dorchester county, be and they are hereby au-
thorised to erect a gate, at their own expense,
across the public county road leading down said
Kirwan's neck; the said gate to be placed to the
south of St. John's church, and to be hung on good
iron hinges, and kept in proper repair, so as not to
impede the travel upon said road.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if after the erec-
tion of said gate, any person or persons shall wil-
fully and knowingly leave open, break or injure
the same, such person or persons shall forfeit and
