manner as the said board shall direct; and that he
will keep and enter in a book kept for that purpose
a full and fair account of all moneys received and
paid by him, and of all matters relating to his du-
ties and office, and preserve the same and all
vouchers relating thereto, and deliver up all books
and vouchers relating to said office, whenever they
are required by the said board, to such person as

they shall appoint to receive the same; that the '
said treasurer shall be elected annually at such
time as the said board shall in their by-laws pro-
vide, and shall receive such compensation for his
services as they from time to time shall determine,
not exceeding three hundred dollars per annum.

Compensation.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said board
of commissioners of public schools may receive any
gift, grant, donation or devise made for the use of
any school or schools within its jurisdiction; and
moreover, they shall be and are hereby invested in
their corporate capacity with the title, care and cus-
tody of all schoolhouses, schoolhouse sites, school
libraries, apparatus, or other property belonging,
or which may hereafter belong, to the respective
school districts of the county now, or which may
hereafter be organised, with full power to control
the same in such manner as the said board may
judge will best subserve the cause of education;
and when in the opinion of the said board any
schoolhouse or schoolhouse site has become unne-
cessary, it may sell and convey the same in the cor-
porate name of the said board, such conveyance to
be executed by the president and secretary of said
board, and shall pay the avails of such sale over to
the treasurer for the benefit of schools; and all
conveyances of real estate which may be made to
said board shall be to said board in their corporate
name and to their successors in office.

ed.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said board of
commissioners of public schools are authorised and
required to hold regular sessions on the third Mon-
day of January, April, July and October in each
and every year, in the usual places of meeting of
the county commissioners, or some other place in
the town of Cumberland, convenient for the trans-
action of any business that may be necessary in
relation to the subject of schools, with power to ad-
journ from time to time, to hold special meetings
at any other time whenever it may be deemed ne-
