1860.

or otherwise for carrying on the freighting busi-
ness from the waters of the Chesapeake hay and
its tributaries to the city of Baltimore, and from
the waters of the said hay and tributaries, by way
of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal to the
various markets in the Delaware bay, Delaware
river and elsewhere.

CHAP. 327.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That said company
shall have full power to transport passengers and
freights by way of the Chesapeake and Delaware
Canal or other way, to and from the cities of Phila-
delphia and Baltimore, and also from any point on
the Chesapeake bay, and its] tributaries, to any
other point on the same bay and tributaries.

Passengers
and freight.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That all the joint
stock property and effects of said company shall be
answerable for all contracts made by or for said
company, and for all just claims against the same,
and the stockholders shall be in no wise answera-
ble or liable therefor in their individual capacities
or private estates.

Liabilities.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall be so construed as to authorise the said
company to issue any note, token, scrip or other
evidence of debt to be used as currency.

Construction.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That this act of in-
corporation shall go into effect immediately after
its passage, and shall continue in force until the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and eighty,
and until the end of the next session of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland thereafter.

In force.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That all the rights,
powers and privileges granted to said corporation
by the different sections of this act may be modi-
fied or repealed by the Legislature of Maryland at
pleasure.
