CHAPTER 326.

CHAP. 326.

AN ACT to authorise and direct the State Attor-
nies for Baltimore city, Baltimore county, Anne
Arundel county and Prince George's county to
institute proceedings to forfeit the charter of the
president, managers and company of the Wash-
ington and Baltimore Turnpike Road.

9, 1860.

WHEREAS, It has been represented to the General
Assembly by the memorials of many citizens of the
State, that the charter or franchise of the president,
managers and company of the Washington and
Baltimore Turnpike company, hath been forfeited
by the wilful and long continued neglect of the said
president, managers and company to keep their
said road or parts thereof in such good order and
repair as is required by the act passed at December
session eighteen hundred and twelve, chapter sev-
enty-eight, incorporating said company.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the States Attornies, for the
city of Baltimore, Baltimore county, Anne Arundel
county and Prince George's county, be and they are
hereby authorised and directed to institute proceed-
ings in the name of the State, against the president,
managers and company of the Washington and
Baltimore Turnpike Road, to ascertain whether
the charter and corporate powers and franchises of
said president, managers and company, ought by
reason of non user or abuser of such powers or fran-
chises to be declared to be vacated and annulled.

Authorised
to institute
proceedings.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.
