1860.

any owner or owners of the said land for the pur-
chase of the same, and when they cannot so agree,
or contract with the said owner or owners, or should
the said owners, or any of them, be legally incom-
petent to make such a contract, or be absent, then
the said company shall have the power and authori-
ty to have the said lands condemned, and the
damages assessed by a jury of inquisition, in the
manner mentioned for the condemning of land in
the fourth section of an act of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, by and on the second day of Jan-
uary, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, chapter two
hundred and fifteen, entitled, an act to authorise
the building of a bridge on the Patapsco river at
Ferry Bar.

CHAP. 307.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said company
shall have the power and authority, after the said
bridge shall have been completed and finished, to
enter upon the lands, and lay off and open a road
leading from the northern terminus of the said
bridge to what is called the Patapsco avenue, and
also a road leading from the southern terminus of
the said bridge to the old Annapolis road, at such
points as the said company may deem fit or con-
venient, and for that purpose shall have the power
and authority to enter upon the land necessary to
make the said road, and have the same condemned
and the damages assessed in the manner mentioned
or referred to in the sixth section of this act.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said company
on the completion of the said bridge shall keep the
same as a toll-bridge, with power to demand and
receive as toll for the passage of the said bridge the
following sums of money, that is to say: for every
foot passenger, three cents; for every horse and ri-
der, ten cents; for every one-horse pleasure car-
riage, fifteen cents; for every two-horse pleasure
carriage, twenty cents; for every one-horse cart or
wagon, twelve cents; for every two-horse cart or
wagon, fifteen cents; for every four-horse cart or
wagon, twenty-five cents; for every two-horse om-
nibus, twenty-five cents; for every four-horse omni-
bus, thirty cents; for every six-horse omnibus, fifty
cents; for every score of sheep or swine, five cents.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That it shall be a pen-
alty of fifty dollars for any person or persons to fire
a gun on other fire-arms on the said bridge, to be
