CHAP. 307.

and shall in general do all of the acts and things
and exercise and enjoy all of the rights and powers
and privileges which may properly appertain or
conduce to the well-being and ordering of this com-
pany, or the objects and interests of this act.

Capital stock.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital
stock of this company shall consist of the sum of
twenty thousand dollars, divided into two hundred
shares of one hundred dollars each.

Opening of
books.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany shall, after having given notice thereof by
advertisements in two newspapers, the one printed
in the city of Annapolis, in Anne Arundel county,
and the other in the city of Baltimore, of the time
and place, cause a book or books to be opened for
the subscription of stock by any person or persons
who may wish to subscribe for the same, on such
terms as the said corporators may see proper to
fix, and any such subscriber who shall neglect or
refuse to pay for the said stock according to the
times fixed shall forfeit all of his interest in this
company, as well as the stock he may have sub-
scribed for.

Authorised
to build
bridge.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany is hereby authorised to erect and build a
bridge across Curtis's creek, in Anne Arundel coun-
ty, from a point on the north side of the said creek,
called Ferry Point, to a point on the south side of
the said creek, called the Sledge Point, which
bridge shall have a width of not less than sixteen
feet, and shall be built of good materials, with
suit able abutments and railings on each side thereof.

Draw for the

passage of
vessels.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany, in building the said bridge, shall make and
have, over the navigable part of the said creek a
suitable and convenient draw for the passage of
vessels, and shall, without cost or charge, cause
the said draw to be opened, without unnecessary
delay, for the free passage of such vessels as cannot
pass under the same.

materials for
the use of the
company —
how obtained.

SEC, 6. And be it enacted, That the said company
shall have full power and authority to enter and to
hold in fee simple any land that may be necessary
or proper for the abutments and piers of the said
bridge, and for the erection and building of toll
houses, and for places or yards for storage, and for
this purpose the said company may contract with
