CHAP. 300.
|
Mary's county, be and they are hereby empowered
to appoint three respectable persons (who are tax
payers) of said county, of known integrity, having
knowledge of the value of the slave William, killed
in an affray in the village of Chaptico, as aforesaid,
who shall at once proceed t6 assess the fair value of
the said slave of the said Thomas Posey, and report
the amount of said valuation to said board of com-
missioners at an early day after such valuation
shall have been ascertained.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when said report
of the value of said slave shall be returned to the
said county commissioners, as aforesaid, the said
county commissioners shall be empowered to levy
upon the assessable property of said county, an
amount sufficient to satisfy the said Thomas Posey,
in accordance with the valuation of said slave
William, as ascertained as aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT entitled, an act to repeal section sixty-
seven of article thirtieth of the Code of Public
General Laws, in regard to gunning, so far as
relates to Dorchester county, and to add the fol-
lowing, as a section to article tenth of the Code
of Public Local Laws.

Repealed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section sixty-seven of article
thirtieth of the Code of Public General Laws is
hereby repealed, so far as relates to Dorchester
county.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this law shall take
effect from and after its passage.
