LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 10.

is duly elected; given under our hands this
day of November, in the year and
for sheriffs the certificates shall be in the same form
except that they shall certify that had

the candidates properly qualified.

38th section.

That the following be a substitute for the thirty-
eighth section of said article:

be lodged

court.

The said judges shall lodge with the clerk of the
Circuit court for the county, or the clerk of the
Superior court of Baltimore city, within five days
or sooner if practicable, from their meeting as afore-
said, the books of the polls of all the districts in
the county, or precincts in the city of Baltimore,
together with a certificate of all the votes given in
the said districts or precincts.

49th section

The following shall be a substitute for the forty-
ninth section of said article:

Warrants.

Warrants for all special elections, shall be issued
to the sheriff of the county or city where the elec-
tion is to be held, who shall appoint a day for the
holding of the same, and shall give at least ten days
notice thereof, exclusive of the day of publication
and day of election, by advertisement set up at the
most public places within each district of the coun-
ty, and by advertisement in two newspapers of
general circulation in such county; in the city of
Baltimore, three weeks previous, notice shall be
given in the manner herein prescribed of all special
elections, whether for federal, State or municipal
officers.

50th section.

The following shall be a substitute for the fiftieth
section of said article:

Notice to be
served.

The sheriff shall also serve a copy of the said
warrant together with a notice of the day appointed
for holding said election on each of the judges in
each district or precinct, at least three days before
the day appointed for holding the election, under
the penalty of ten dollars for each neglect.

51st section.

That the following be a substitute for the fifty-
first section of said article:

Election to
be held.

Such election shall be held within fifteen days of
after the warrant shall be received by the sheriff,
except in the city of Baltimore, where twenty-five
