1860.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said presi-
dent, directors, managers and company shall be
authorised to demand and receive from each passen-
ger in any car or other vehicle on said railway, not
more than twenty-five cents fare, or toll, for the
whole distance between the city boundary and
Towsontown, and not more than five cents, for
each mile or fraction thereof, for each way-passen-
gers.

CHAP. 259.

Rate of fare.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said railway
shall not be used on any Sunday, under a penalty
of five dollars for each offence, to be collected as
other fines are collected.

Sabbath-ob-
servance.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That if any person
shall wilfully injure or destroy any part of said
railway or any building, vehicle or other property
of said company, or shall wilfully obstruct the free
passage of any car or other vehicle on said railway,
he or she shall be subject to a penalty of twenty
dollars, to be collected as other fines are collected,
and may, moreover, be imprisoned for not more
than twenty years, if the life of any person travel-
ing on said road be put in jeopardy by such ob-
struction, or attempted obstruction of said railway.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said company
shall not permit any car or other vehicle to stand
on said railway, except for a reasonable lime to re-
ceive and discharge passengers.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said presi-
dent, managers and company be authorised to ex-
tend their said railway into the city of Baltimore,
to such point or points, and through such streets or
ways, and to connect or cause the same to be con-
nected, with such of the railway tracks in the said
city, or which may be constructed therein, as the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore shall permit,
direct and ordain, and subject to such restrictions,
terms and conditions as said Mayor and Council
may prescribe and impose.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said presi-
dent, managers and company be, and they are here-
by authorised and empowered to sell and grant to
any person or persons being actual residents of the
city or county of Baltimore, or to any body corpo-
rate of this State, the right to lay down, equip and
use a railway on their said turnpike road (instead
