AN ACT to amend the fourth article of the Code
of Public Local Laws, by repealing section
three hundred and eighty-five, section three hun-
dred and ninety-three, section three hundred and
ninety-four, section three hundred and ninety-
five, section three hundred and ninety-six and
section three hundred and ninety-seven of said
fourth article, relating to the inspection of Hay
and Straw and adding the following on the same
subject:

Repealed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section three hundred and eigh-
ty-five, section three hundred and ninety-three,
section three hundred and ninety-four, section three
hundred and ninety-five, section three hundred
and ninety-six and section three hundred and nine-
ty-seven, of said fourth article, be and are hereby
repealed.

Hay and
straw to be
weighed at
the hay scales.
|
SEC. 2. That all hay and straw brought to the
city of Baltimore, shall be weighed at the State
Hay Scales as provided in this article, and by
one of the inspectors at the rate of one hundred
pounds to the hundred weight, making a reasona-
ble allowance for the moisture thereof, as well as
for the mud or other substances attached to the
wagon, cart or sled containing the same, this sec-
tion not to apply to hay or straw in bales brought
to the city by water or railroad.

Inspector's
compensation.
|
SEC. 3. The said inspector shall be entitled to
demand and receive for each and every load of hay
and straw weighing thirty hundred pounds and
upwards, forty-five cents, all loads less than thirty
hundred pounds, one and a half cents per hundred
pounds, for weighing hemp cables, anchors, dye-
wood, bark, roots, etcetra, two cents per hundred
pounds.

Portable
scales to be
sold.
|
SEC. 4. That the inspector of hay and straw shall
sell the portable scales, and pay the proceeds of
said sales to the Treasurer of the State.

In force.
|
SEC. 5. That this act go into effect from the date
of its passage.
