particularly directed by the by-laws of said com-
pany, in all cases there being not less than fifteen
days' notice of said election to be given in some
newspaper of the town or county.

CHAP. 250.


SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the purposes for
which said railway company is incorporated, and
which said company are hereby authorised to effect
are the building or constructing, and using a railroad
or railroads, laying down the rails, ties, &c., run
ning cars for passengers and freight, drawn by
horses or mules, or tracks to be laid from Easton to
Easton Point, on Tread-avon creek, from Easton to
Miles' river bridge, on Miles' river; from Easton to
Dover ferry, or other convenient point, on Chop-
tank river, with full and ample powers to do what
ever may be required for public accommodation and
convenience, in keeping in good order and repair
the streets and roads through which said railways
may pass.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the president and
directors of said company shall have power to issue
bonds or certificates of indebtedness under the seal
of said company in sums not less than twenty dol-
lars, and not exceeding in amount the sum of thirty
thousand dollars, and to sell and dispose of the
same at not less than their par value, pledging a1
the same time the profits and property of said com-
pany to secure the redemption thereof, which said
bonds so issued may be converted into capital stock
of said company according to the rate fixed hereto-
fore as the price of each share thereof.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the president and
directors shall provide for declaring dividends, for-
feiture of stock when not paid, up, for charge of
passengers and rate of tolls for transportation o1
freight, &c., and all and every other thing or act
necessary for the proper management of said com-
pany.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That in all cases where
damages are claimed by the owner or owners of
land through which the said railways may run,
the president and. directors of said company, or a
majority of them, or any person authorised by
them, may agree with the owner or owners of such
land for such damages as may be sustained by him,
her or them, by the said railway passing through
the same, or with the owner or owners of the land
