AN ACT in aid of the charitable corporation, the
Home of the Friendless, with reference to the
erection of a building for its benevolent pur-
poses.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That for enabling the said corpora-
tion to erect a building for its charitable objects
and acquiring the necessary ground, the sum of
five thousand dollars, be, and the same is hereby,
appropriated for and in aid of said corporation out
of any unappropriated moneys in the treasury.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State shall, upon the warrant of the Comptrol-
ler of the Treasury Department, pay to the mana-
gers of the said Home of the Friendless, or as they
shall order and direct, the sum of five thousand
dollars, appropriated as aforesaid, in quarterly pay-
ments of twelve hundred and fifty dollars for each,
computing from the day of the passage of this act.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the passage thereof.

AN ACT entitled, an act to amend the twelfth
article of the Public Local Laws, by adding
thereto the following sections relating to the
taxing of dogs, for the purpose of paying for
sheep killed by them.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That every owner or keeper of a dog
in Harford county, shall pay an annual tax as fol-
lows: for each dog, one dollar per annum, and for
each bitch, two dollars.

SEC. 2. The constables of said county shall in the
month of April, in each year, return a list under
oath to the county commissioners of all the dogs in
