make, ordain and establish such constitution, by-
laws and regulations, not inconsistent with the
laws of this State, and the same to amend and
alter, as from time to time they may deem necessary
or convenient for conducting the affairs of the said
corporation.

CHAP. 169.
|

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That at all times
hereafter, when any vacancies shall happen among
the said trustees, by death, resignation, or other-
wise, as herein provided, the surviving or remain-
ing trustees, or a quorum of them, may proceed
to elect, by ballot, other competent, judicious and
discreet persons, to be trustees, to supply such va-
cancies, and that no person shall retain the office
of trustee, or be eligible thereto, who is not a
member in good standing of some Christian church,
any five of which said trustees, if there be so many
of them in office, shall constitute a quorum thereof.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage, and that
the State of Maryland shall have full power at any
time to alter or repeal the same.

AN ACT to repeal the one hundred and ninety-
third section, chapter fourteen, of the Public
Local Law of Kent county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section one hundred and nine-
ty-three, chapter fourteen, of the Public Local Law
of Kent county, be repealed, and the following en-
acted as a substitute:

SEC. 2. The sheriff of said county shall be en-
titled to a sum not exceeding fifty cents a day for
each State prisoner confined in jail.
