CHAP. 166.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the sum of seven
hundred and fifty dollars is hereby appropriated to
carry into effect the provisions of this act, and the
same shall be under the direction of the Governor,
for the purposes hereof, and the Comptroller shall,
under the order of the Governor, draw his warrant
upon the Treasurer for the said sum or any part
thereof.

effect from the day of its passage.
CHAPTER 166.

In force.

AN ACT to incorporate a company to make a
turnpike road from the west end of Union town,
in Carroll county, to the completed terminus of
the Westminster and Hagerstown turnpike road.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John Smith, David Fontz and
John Roberts are hereby incorporated and made a
body corporate by the name of the Uniontown
Turnpike Company, and by that name may sue
and be sued, may have and use a common seal,
and may alter the same at pleasure.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said company shall be ten thousand dollars, di-
vided into shares of twenty dollars, and the persons
hereinbefore named shall, at such time and place as
they may deem best, and after a notice of thirty
days published in some newspaper published in
Carroll county, meet and open books for subscrip-
tions to the said capital stock, and they are hereby
authorised to subscribe and pay in as part of the
capital stock of said company whatever sum may
remain in their hands as commissioners, under the
act of December session, eighteen hundred and
forty-nine, chapter two hundred and thirty-seven.
