CHAP. 155.

sure, may take, hold and possess real, personal and
mixed property, not exceeding in value, twenty
thousand dollars by gift, grant, purchase, bequest
or devise, to be used for the general purposes of the
aforesaid body corporate, and the same or any
part thereof, may, grant, sell, transfer, lease and
convey, and may ordain and establish such by-
laws, rules and regulations, or alter and amend
the same, as they may deem necessary or proper
for conducting the affairs of said corporation, and
shall not be contrary to the Constitution and laws
of the United States or of this State or of the laws
of the Grand Division of Maryland; Provided,

that nothing in this act shall be construed as autho-
rising the said corporation to issue any note, token,
scrip, device or other evidence of debt to be used
as currency.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act of in-
corporation shall take effect from the date of its
passage, and continue in force for fifty years, and

that the Legislature reserves to itself the right to
alter and amend the same at pleasure.

AN ACT to require the clerk of the Circuit court
for Frederick county, to make and prepare a gen-
eral index to the Land Records of Frederick
county, from the commencement of the term of
William B. Tyler, clerk, to the expiration of
the term of Edward Shriver, clerk inclusive.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the clerk of the Circuit court
for Frederick county, be and he is hereby requested
to make a full and complete general index in a
book or books well bound for the purpose of all
deeds, mortgages, bills of sale and other convey-
ances of record in his office which were recorded
from the time of the commencement of the term of
William B. Tyler, as clerk, to the expiration of
the term of Edward Shriver, as clerk, both in-
