CHAP. 128.

CHAPTER 127.

Passed March
2, 1860.

AN ACT to appoint an additional justice of the
peace in the second election district in Caroline
county.

Additional
justice of the
peace.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That an additional justice of the
peace be and he is hereby granted to said district,
who shall be appointed according to law, and shall
have full power to discharge all the duties, have
all the rights, and be subject to the same responsi-
bilities of any justice of the peace now in existence
in said district.

Election.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That at the next gen-
eral election, the voters of said district shall be en-
titled to elect three justices of the peace for said
district, anything in any other act to the contrary
notwithstanding.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 128.

1, 1860.

AN ACT to amend section forty-eight, article sev-
enteen of the Public Local Laws.

Assessment.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the commissioners of the town
of Centreville may cause an assessment and valua-
tion of all the real and personal property in said
town, bank stock, bonds, notes and other evidences
of debt excepted, to be made between the first day
of April and the first day of May next, and may
levy on the property so assessed such sums of
money as they deem necessary for the improvement

Levy limited.

3. of said town; but said levy, after the first day of
April, eighteen hundred and sixty-two, shall not
exceed two hundred and eighty dollars.

Assessors.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, The said commis-
sioners shall appoint two persons to make said as-
