1860.

delay or interruption, and no reward shall be

demanded or received for the same, and in case
of any delay or interruption to the passage of
vessels, on the part of the president, directors, their
officers or servants, the said president and directors
may be indicted arid fined as for a common nui-
sance.

CHAP. 110.

SEC. 11. And fie it enacted, That for and in con-
sideration of the great risk and expense to be in-
curred by said company, not only for building the
said 'bridge, but for keeping the same in continual
repair, the said bridge, when built and completed
according to the directions of this act, and all its
profits shall be and the same are hereby vested in
said company forever, to be held as tenants in
common, in proportion to their respective shares,
and it shall be and may be lawful for the said presi-
dent and directors, at all times hereafter, to de-
mand and receive such tolls as they may deem
proper and right, but not to exceed the following
rates: For every foot passenger, five cents; for
every horse and rider, ten cents; for every cart or
wagon, with one horse, ox or mule, twenty-five
cents; for every four wheel carriage or wagon with
one horse, ox or mule, twenty-five cents; for every
pleasure carriage with one horse, twenty-five cents;
for every pleasure carriage with two horses, thirty
cents; for every four horse carriage, stage, or
wagon of any description, forty cents; for every
head of horses, mules or cattle, five cents; for
every head of sheep or hogs, three cents, which
rates of tolls shall at all times be made public and
kept in some convenient place for the inspection of
passengers.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That if the said
president and directors, or their successors, or any
person by their authority, shall demand or receive
any greater rates or tolls for passing over the said
bridge than is hereinbefore allowed, or shall neg-
lect to keep the said bridge and causeway in good
repair for the space of ten days at any one time,
they so offending shall for every such offence, for-
feit and pay the sum of twenty dollars, one-half
thereof for the use of Talbot and Caroline counties
respectively, and the other half for the use of the
