To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, BERTRAM L. BOONE, II., SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
203 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
edition) DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at a Special Election held
in the City of Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, an
Act known as Chapter 702 of the Acts of the General As-
sembly of 1949, was submitted to the voters of the City of
Cumberland, for their adoption or rejection under the pro-
visions thereof, said Act being:

An Act to enact a new Article 1A Code of Public Local
Laws (1930 edition) title "City of Cumberland'⁷ revis-
ing the corporate charter of the City of Cumberland
and providing for a form of government.

AND i DO CERTIFY, That at said election 2,624 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of Chapter 702 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1949, 2,678 votes were cast against the
adoption of the said Act, and a majority of the votes being
cast against the adoption of the said referred Act, the same
has therefore failed of ratification.
