BACK ANY OR ALL OF THE ROADS AND STREETS
ACQUIRED UNDER THIS SECTION TO, AND AT THE
EXPENSE OF, THE ADJACENT PROPERTY OWNERS.

(2) THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ANNE ARUN-
DEL COUNTY ARE HEREBY DIRECTED EMPOWERED
TO TAKE OVER AND MAINTAIN ALL STREET LIGHTS
AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT FORMERLY OWNED
AND OPERATED BY THE NOW DEFUNCT TOWN OF
ARUNDEL-ON-THE-BAY. PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT
IF ANY OF THE ROADS OR STREETS UPON WHICH
ARE LOCATED THE SAID ELECTRIC LIGHTS ARE
DEEDED BACK TO ADJACENT PROPERTY OWNERS
PURSUANT TO SUB-SECTION (1) OF THIS SECTION,
THEREAFTER THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL
NOT BE OBLIGED TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE SAID
LIGHTS.

(3) THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ANNE ARUN-
DEL COUNTY ARE DIRECTED TO TAKE OVER FROM
THE FORMER TREASURER OF THE SAID ARUNDEL-
ON-THE-BAY ANY AND ALL FUNDS IN HIS POSSES-
SION AND USE SUCH FUNDS AS ARE TURNED OVER
TO THEM BY THE SAID TREASURER FOR THE SOLE
PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING AND REPAIRING THE
ROADS AND STREETS TAKEN OVER BY THEM PUR-
SUANT TO SUB-SECTION (1) OF THIS SECTION.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, THAT THIS ACT IS
HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN ACUTE EMERGENCY
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVA-
TION OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND
HAVING BEEN PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE,
SUPPORTED BY THREE-FIFTHS OF ALL THE MEM-
BERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE TWO HOUSES OF
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, THE SAME
SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASS-
AGE.
