Trooper First Class Lauren M. Ridge, killed while in the perform-
ance of his duty; and be it further

Resolved, That this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the
House and that the Chief Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to
send a copy to the widow of the late Trooper Lauren M. Ridge.

Which was read and adopted.

HOUSE RESOLUTION

House Resolution No. 4—By Messrs. Tawney and Buffington.

Resolution requesting a list of the names and addresses of all State
employees be made available without discrimination to any
candidate for public office.

WHEREAS, a prominent State official recently addressed a com-
munication to a large number of State employees inviting them to
be present at a rally held in a Baltimore hotel for a prominent
candidate for Governor of this State; and

WHEREAS, diligent inquiry has failed to reveal the source of the
mailing list from which names and addresses were taken for this
communication; and

WHEREAS, if any use is to be made of any such mailing list,
whether it be supplied by the State Employment Commissioner, by
the individual State departments or by any association of classified
employees, these lists should be made available without discrimina-
tion to other candidates in the gubernatorial campaign; now, there-
fore, be it

Resolved by the House of Delegates of Maryland, That it is the
sense of this Body that if the State Employment Commissioner,
individual department heads or any association of classified em-
ployees has made available to any candidate in this State a list of
the names and addresses of State employees, such list should also
immediately be made available to any other candidate; and be it
further

Resolved, That this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the
House and that the Chief Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to
send copies thereof to the State Employment Commissioner, to the
heads of the several departments of the State government and to
the Director of the Maryland Classified Employees Association.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Elections.
