sums of money as they may need for municipal purposes but
not exceeding Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.) and to give
their promissory note or notes therefor with such rate or
rates of interest as said Town Commissioners shall determine.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

(Senate Bill 22)

AN ACT to provide additional compensation for the Judges
of the Circuit Courts for Frederick, Montgomery, Dor-
chester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties and
authorizing and directing the County Commissioners of
said Counties to levy a tax sufficient to pay the same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Frederick County
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to pay to
the Judge of the Circuit Court residing in said County
$2,500 annually from and after June 1, 1948 and the County
Commissioners of Montgomery County are hereby authorized
and directed to pay to each of the Judges of the Circuit
Court residing in said County $2,500 annually from and after-
June 1, 1948, and the County Commissioners of Dorchester,
Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties are hereby re-
spectively authorized and directed to pay to each of the
Judges of the Circuit Courts for said Counties, respectively,
$625.00 annually from and after June 1, 1948, the said pay-
ments in each instance to be made in equal monthly install-
ments by each of the aforementioned counties and the said
County Commissioners are hereby respectively authorized
and directed to levy upon the assessable property of said
counties a tax sufficient to pay said amounts respectively.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.
